| Description | “You can’t give from an empty cup” (Nurses in Transition, 1988). Working intimately with people who are suffering can be physically, psychologically, and emotionally depleting, and without a means of replenishing, healthcare providers are at high risk for compassion fatigue. Let’s talk about what compassion fatigue is, how to prevent it, and what to do when it develops. This workshop will draw on East/West approaches to health & well-being, and include lecture, discussion, and experiential exercises. Please wear flat, comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for gentle movement and bring a recording device if desired (most cell phones can record). |
