Description | Poverty is often portrayed as a stand-alone issue. In this three-hour activity, the Community Action Poverty Simulation involves participants who take on the roles of members of up to 26 families, all facing a variety of challenging, but typical, circumstances. The Poverty Simulation breaks down stereotypes by allowing participants to step into the real-life situations of others. |

Nursing: This nursing continuing education activity awards 3.0 contact hours upon successful completion.
Lowcountry AHEC is approved with distinction as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the South Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Social Workers: This program is approved for a total of 3.0 non social work contact hours. The South Carolina AHEC system is an approved provider of continuing education by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners.
Counselors/Therapists (LMFT): This program is approved for 3.0 hours of continuing education credit. The South Carolina AHEC system is recognized as a permanent sponsor of continuing education by the South Carolina Board of Examiners of Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Psycho-Educational Specialists.
